Tripoli, 16 April:

The deputy head of Tarhouna Military Council, Colonel Abdullah Hussein, and his colleague, Colonel Salim Souissi, were shot at on Sunday near the town, on their way back from a meeting in Misrata.

The attack has all the hallmarks of a deliberate ambush. The two were fired on by a group on unknown assailants, with firing coming from several directions.

Colonel Hussein was shot in his legs while Colonel Souissi received a bullet in the chest, close to his heart.

The two were immediately taken to Tarhouna hospital where they were operated on. Both are now said to be a stable condition.
