The Libyan Industry Union (LIU) reported last Monday (18 May), that as part of its efforts to support the industrial sector and enhance the private sector's role in economic development, Ali Nuseer, its Executive Director, met with Mahmoud Al-Futaisi, Director General of the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB), at the NESDB's Tripoli headquarters.

The meeting addressed several issues related to supporting the industrial private sector and explored ways to overcome the difficulties facing factories and industrial companies. They also discussed strengthening mechanisms for cooperation to contribute to the advancement of national industry and enhance its competitiveness.

The meeting emphasised the importance of promoting Libyan industry and highlighting the capabilities of local products, as well as working to create a more supportive business environment for manufacturers, in line with the requirements of the next phase and the priorities of economic development in Libya.

At the conclusion of the meeting, discussions were held regarding coordination for the preparation of a joint memorandum of understanding between the NESDB and the LIU.

This memorandum aims to support the industrial business environment and strengthen partnerships between relevant national institutions, serving the private sector and contributing to the development of Libyan industry.

Through these meetings, the LIU said it affirms its continued commitment to opening effective channels of cooperation with various national bodies and institutions, working to represent the voice of industrialists and defend their interests, and supporting all initiatives aimed at building a productive and sustainable national economy.
