Misrata Free Zone (MFZ) yesterday released data for its shipping and cargo operations for the period 2020 to 2025.

Number of containers (TEUs):

- 685 TEUs – 2025 – a 22 percent increase in the number of containers on 2024

- 560 TEUs – 2024

- 615 TEUs – 2023

- 460 TEUs – 2022

- 440 TEUs - 2021

- 382 TEUs – 2020

General goods:

2025:  972,630 metric tonnes – plus 42.57 %

2024:  682,236 metric tonnes - plus 134.51 %

2023:  290,919 metric tonnes – minus 3.42 %

2022:  301,221 metric tonnes – minus 17.08 %

2021:   363,265 metric tonnes – minus 24.19 %

2020:  551,965 metric tonnes

Grains in tonnes:

2025: 1.44 million metric tonnes

2024: 1.21 million metric tonnes

2023: 1.57 million metric tonnes

2022: 680,000 metric tonnes

2021: 840,000 metric tonnes

Number of incoming ships:

2025: 1,376 – plus 12.9 %

MFZ said these figures strengthen its presence as an integrated logistics hub. It said they embody an upward trajectory of cumulative growth over the past years, reflecting a tangible development in operational performance efficiency and a growing economic role for it within the regional and international trade and transport system, thus consolidating its position as a promising logistics hub and a strategic lever for the national economy.
