The Acting Minister of Marine Resources, Saber Al-Azabi, met at his Ministry’s office yesterday, Samir Ali Al-Tarmal, Director General Union of Chambers of Commerce.

The Ministry said the meeting came as part of the preparations for the Libyan International Maritime Economy Forum, organized by the General Union of Chambers, and which will be held soon.

The Director General of the General Union of Chambers invited the Minister to attend the forum and discuss ways of cooperation and exchange of expertise between the two parties, as well as joint coordination for the success of this important economic event.

The meeting addressed the possibility of the General Union cooperating to assist the Ministry in the digital transformation of the mechanism for collecting data from Libyan markets, ports, and harbours electronically.

Initiative to collect fish stock data electronically
The Ministry revealed that the Acting Minister has launched an initiative that will contribute to facilitating data collection and identifying fish stocks in Libyan markets through prepared models that are still being developed by the Office of the Undersecretary for Technical Affairs. The Ministry said these models will be circulated to its departments and fishing offices in the regions soon.
