A milestone for Libyan olive oil
The announcement by the LEPC is very significant for Libya’s olive oil sector. It will be recalled that on 13 February the LEPC had announced that the Libya‘s International Laboratory for Olive Oil, with the latest capabilities, was ready to receive samples of olive oil and international accreditation.‎

Libya’s presidency of the United Nations International Olive Council
It will also be recalled that in November 2024 Libya assumed, from 1 January 2025, the presidency of the United Nations International Olive Council for one year.

The news came out of the International Olive Council’s 120th session held in Madrid, Spain that month, in which Libya was participating.

Export accreditation
More importantly, the Madrid meeting had granted Libya the accreditation certificate for sensory and chemical laboratories, thus making Libya among the countries that can grant an accredited certificate for exporting olive oil to all countries of the world.‎

This accreditation certificate will have a huge positive effect on the marketing of Libyan olive oil worldwide.
