The head of the Libya Export Promotion Centre (LEPC), Mohamed Al-Deeb, hosted at the LEPC’s Tripoli headquarters today the Tunisian Export Promotion Centre (Centre de Promotion des Exportations de la Tunisie – CEPEX) accompanied by the Tunisian Ambassador to Libya Al-Asaad A-Ajili.
Meeting part of wider framework for further Libya-Tunisian integration The LEPC said the visit comes within the framework of exchanging visits between the two centres according to the executive programme of the November 2023 Memorandum of Understanding. This not only includes increasing bilateral trade but cooperation in penetrating and increasing trade to sub-Saharan markets / transit trade.
Preparations for B2B March meetings The visit includes a meeting of the Joint Preparatory Committee between the two centres to prepare the agenda of bilateral meetings to be held on 6-7 March between Libyan and Tunisian companies under the slogan of ‘‘Libyan Tunisian Partnership and Integration to Access Global Markets.’’
Libya Exhibition for Exporting Communications and Information Technology Services (ECITS) The heads of the two centres will also participate in the opening of the Libyan Exhibition for the Export of Communications and Information Technology Services (ECITS) on Monday, which will continue until 22nd February with the participation of Tunisian companies.
Speaking today exclusively to Libya Herald, LEPC head Mohamed Al-Deeb, said that the 6-7 March B2B meetings will be between companies registered in the LEPC’s Exporters’ Register and Tunisian companies in various sectors.
Building on previous meetings and events He said that this event comes to coordinate efforts between economic actors in the two countries, especially after several joint economic activities and economic activities were organized in the two countries. The last of which, he recollected, was the Libyan Tunisian Exhibition for the Development of Industry and Trade that was held in Misrata on 16 January.
There was also the Libyan economic activities that take place in Tunisia to consolidate the partnership in the field of exporting Libyan products through Tunisia abroad, especially since Tunisia has a good experience in the field of exports.
Dozens of Libyan exporters Al-Deeb added that this exhibition will bring together dozens of Libyan companies that have exported abroad and registered on the LEPC’s Exporters' Register in various fields, including industrial, agricultural, and service.
He explained that the LEPC provides various facilities for Libyan exporters in cooperation with the relevant government institutions, headed by the Customs Authority, as well as linking Libyan exporters with foreign companies wishing to import products and services from Libya. This includes organising the March bilateral meetings between Libyan exporting companies and Tunisian companies.
After neighbouring states, Europe is the target Al -Deeb said the LEPC will be coordinating several bilateral meetings between Libyan exporting companies in the field of dates, olive oil, recycling scrap, used paper, used tyres, plastic, sand bricks, and several companies wishing to export to other areas with neighbouring countries in the first stage and European countries in the next stage.
