Tripoli, 14 July 2014:
One member of Ghariyan's local security forces was killed and five wounded outside Ghariyan last night as they attempted to intercept a Zintani convoy as it moved through the town.
The head of Ghariyan’s military council Muftah Shenkadah told the Libya Herald that the fighting had taken place at a checkpoint some 35 kilometres from the town. A source at Ghariyan hospital confirmed the casualties.
Shenkadah claimed the Zintanis had been moving towards Tripoli to reinforce troops there.
