Benghazi, 22 January 2014:
Three people have now been confirmed dead after last night's explosion in Benghazi, including two officers from the Saiqa Special Forces.
Spokesman for the Benghazi Joint Security Room (BJSR), Ibrahim Al-Shara, confirmed that three bodies were recovered from the wreckage of a car targeted by an explosive device. Two of the dead, identified as members of the Special Forces, have been named as Waleed Jumaa Al-Abar and Muftah Al-Shukri.
A third individual has not yet been identified. A source at Benghazi's Al-Jala Hospital told the Libya Herald that it had not been possible to identify the body due to extensive burns resulting from a vehicle fire following the explosion.
The blast, understood to have been caused by a remotely-detonated explosive device, occurred yesterday at around 7pm in Khaleej Street.
