Tripoli, 30 November 2013:

The threat of Tripoli International airport closing tomorrow has been averted after air traffic controllers demanding a pay increase announced they had postponed their planned strike following an offer from the Minister of Transport.

The details of the offer from Abdel-Qader Ahmed have not been disclosed, although there are reports that he has agreed to a salary hike and a number of other concession. The air traffic controllers have said that they will assess it and reply within a month.

The offer was made at last minute negotiations today between the Ministry and the controllers who had given today as the deadline for their salary demand.
