Benghazi, 25 April 2013:
Benghazi’s public registrar, Yousef Abdurrahim Qarqum, who was kidnapped on Tuesday, was found unconscious today in the city’s Gwarsha district. He was taken to the Al Jalaa hospital. It is reported that he had been tortured by his abductors.
Gargum was seized after he claimed in a radio interview that he had evidence that a number of people had forged documents enabling them to establish multiple fake identities and so claim extra family allowances. He said that some people had done it over a hundred times. He said he was going to publicly name the guilty.
Noted for his outspoken views, he was reportedly seized after leaving Libya Al-Ahrar TV studios where he had appeared in a programme following the radio interview.
