Tripoli, 31 March 2013:

Libyan border guards have caught 265 illegal immigrants in the Al Wigh area of southern Libya, according to Libyan news agency LANA.

The immigrants, nationals from five different sub-Saharan African countries, were caught inside Libyan borders, having entered the country illegally.

Illegal immigration remains a huge challenge for the Libyan authorities. Libya has long been used as a transit country between sub-Saharan Africa and European shores.
