The government has announced that both this Saturday and Sunday will be public holidays to mark the elections.
However, reports that the election of the National Conference will also now be extended to cover the two-day period are untrue. Voting will still only be on Saturday, from 8am to 8pm.
Normally Saturday is part of the two-day weekend break. Because people are expected to use the day to exercise their civic duty and vote, Sunday has been given as a replacement day off.
